Vocational Rehabilitation

Overview

Vocational Rehabilitation works with eligible South Carolina residents who are blind or low vision to help them reach their employment goals. These services help consumers obtain skills to become economically and socially independent. Services range from adjustment to blindness to job placement assistance.

Services are provided to individuals whose vision is causing problems obtaining and/or maintaining employment. Each consumer works with a counselor in their area who can assist them with:

• Determining eligibility
• Setting an employment goal
• Developing a program for Vocational Rehabilitation services to achieve that goal
• Learning to navigate the job-placement and job-retention process
